2015 Board Members introduced

The Lesotho National Development Corporation is pleased to announce the appointment of new Board of Directors to the nation, following a recruitment process carried out recently.

The Directors were presented to the Executive Management of the Corporation by the Honourable Minister of Trade and Industry, Senator Joshua Setipa this morning.

In his address, Minister Setipa congratulated the Directors, and shared his vision emphasising the need for repositioning LNDC to be an efficient Government vehicle to ensure effective empowerment of Basotho and enhancement of the economy, as per the LNDC mandate. The Minister also pledged full support to the team entrusted to transform the economy of Lesotho during its tenure of Office.

The LNDC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Kelebone Leisanyane also presented the Corporation overview to the Members of the Board.

The new LNDC Board that will serve on a three-year term, is composed of the following Directors:

  1. Mrs. ‘Mapulumo Mosisili             : PS Ministry of Trade and Industry & Board Chairperson
  2. Ms. Liengoane Lefosa                   :  Bureau of Statistics
  3. Dr. Lefulesele Lebesa                    : Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security
  4. Mr. Robert Likhang                       : CEO BEDCO
  5. Ms. ‘Mampho Tjabane                 : Entrepreneur
  6. Mr. Lebakeng Mohau Tigeli        : Entrepreneur
  7. Mr. Thaele Makhetha                   : MF Holdings
  8. Mr. Lehlohonolo Chefa                : Consumer Protection Association

The LNDC Board Chairperson, Mrs ‘Mapulumo Mosisili commended Directors on their appointments, pledged her support and requested full commitment from each one of them.

 

The Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) is the main parastatal of the Government of Lesotho charged with the implementation of the country’s industrial development policies.

The mandate of the Corporation is to initiate, promote and facilitate the development of manufacturing and processing industries, mining and commerce in a manner calculated to raise the level of income and employment in Lesotho.

 

The Corporation was established by an Act of Parliament known as Act No. 20 of 1967. It was amended as Order No. 13 of 1990 and again as Amendment Act No. 7 of 2000 which became effective on 25th October, 2000.

The role of the Corporation is to promote Lesotho as an attractive investment location for both foreign and indigenous investors.

LNDC is wholly owned by the Government of Lesotho and falls under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Cooperatives and Marketing which is responsible for providing overall policy direction on industrialization.
