The LNDC Board of Directors in its 118^th sitting resolved to establish a new unit within the LNDC which started operations in 2000 that will promote local entrepreneurship.  This was upon reflection that behind the success of any economy lies the performance of its leading firms, for they are the principal investors and agents of technological and economical change for the better.  Their ability to thrive, grow and compete in the world market is central to the process of catching up with more advanced economies and overcoming poverty.  Therefore the Entrepreneurial Development Division was established by the LNDC and is mandated to bring about change in the economic landscape of Lesotho to act as a catalyst for change to empower locally owned firms.  Through the Division the LNDC intended to facilitate knowledge acquisition, its use and its generation through a number of interventions such as:

        1.    Technical Assistance
        2.    Preparation of Business Profiles
        3.    Studies (pre feasibility and feasibility)
        4.    Entrepreneurship Training
        5.    Search for Technology
        6.    Market studies
        7.    Search for partners
        8.    Identifying alternative sources of finance
        9.    Preparation of Business Plans
