Production Process
BFVC produces canned organic peaches,
apricots and asparagus. It also produces
fruit nectars/juices and canned
vegetable salad. At full capacity it
produces 500 (4.5kg) cans of peaches per
9 hour shift and 1,000 (410kg) cans of
asparagus per day. Production of the
other product lines depends on
availability of inputs.
Production Capacity
The production capacity of asparagus was
939 tones for the year 1991 but the last
asparagus season in 2009 only plus minus
10 tones of asparagus was produced.
The capacity of peaches is plus minus 5
tones per 9 hour shift.
Capacity for the nectar is yet to be
established.

EU, South Africa and Lesotho
Investment Opportunities
The Cannery produces mostly for the EU
market and it operates for seven months
per annum, from September to March of
the following year. During the
asparagus, apricots and peaches off
season, it processes vegetable salad and
juices from the peaches purity. Through
an improved supply chain management and
additions of more product lines, the
facility can operate at full capacity
for nine months per annum. Therefore,
there is potential to expand the
facility.
